SPRING 2014
TUES 1:15-3:45
BC 20
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Practice the art and craft of writing creative nonfiction in a variety of formats and for a range of audiences, purposes, and media. Students will read and write articles in established and innovative forms from print and online sources and develop their own voice and style in articles ranging from profile to narrative, and editorial to review. Through discussion and workshop class members will learn to balance the factual with the artistic, sorting amongst details gathered through research, interview, and observation. In weekly roundtables and small group workshops we will explore revision and macro- and micro-level editing strategies and develop peer response.
